The
Food and Drug Administration is asking manufacturers of Zafiriukast and
Zleuton, Leukotriene-inhibiting asthma and allergic rhinitis drugs, to add
warnings of adverse mental events. In 2007, Montelukast's manufacturer Merck
& Co., voluntarily added tremor, depression, tendency to suicide, and
anxiousness was noted as dangers with their similar drug, as noted by
the Journal of the A.M.A. on July 22, 2009.
Now the FDA wants a stronger warning to Montelukast and the other afore-mentioned asthma drugs, having received warnings of agitation, aggression, hallucinations, depression, and suicidal thinking in patients taking these drugs.
Is there a better way? Could be. Remember that villain stated above--Leukotriene--that the drugs act to inhibit? What about ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE?
Surprise! There may indeed be an alternative medicine approach. Green tea inhibits Leukotriene! Read more about Green Tea in our book, WHAT YOUR DOCTOR DOESN'T KNOW COULD KILL YOU, which shows how your author conquered his asthma with Green Tea and other alternative methods using foods to combat disease.
