"IDS 30 'extract of nettle leaf] may inhibit the inflammatory cascade in autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.

"Herbal anti-rheumatics are indicated in painful inflammatory and degenerative rheumatic diseases. Their mechanism of action is broader than that of synthetic anti-rheumatics 'drugs.] Particular preparations from Devils' Claw 'herb-extract]...as well as a particular willow bark extract 'from which aspirin was originally formulated]...proved efficacy in a number of clinical studies...

"The proprietary nettle root extract IDS23 'has been] found promising in 'test tube] and 'live animal] results indicat'ing] an anti-inflammatory effect...proof of efficacy is still missing. Safety data for pregnancy and lactation are only available for the herbal combination Phytodolor prepared from aspen, ash and goldenrod. Emphasis added.
