"High intakes of sugar-sweetened drinks...and [high intake] of fruits and fruit juice have been associated with a small increased risk of gout. High meat intake and seafood intake... have also been positively associated with gout with a small increase in risk.

"In the same study, long-term coffee consumption was inversely associated with gout. Consumption of low-fat dairy products has been shown to decrease the risk of gout; milk proteins...can reduce...uric acid levels in healthy individuals."
