Broccoli vs. Prostate Cancer
"We have shown previously that ...isothiocyanate 'iso], 'a substance
found in
broccoli,
cabbage, brussels sprouts
& cauliflower,]
significantly inhibits survival of ...human prostate cancer cells 'in
test tubes] whereas proliferation of a normal prostate...cell line is
minimally affected by 'iso] even at concentrations that are highly
'toxic] to prostate cancer cells.
They studied the
effect of iso in live animals and found a significant decrease in tumor
growth in those treated with it. The iso caused programmed cell death in
the cancer cells, though not in normal cells.
