Alpha Lipoic Acid, a popular nutrient, has been used to ward off diabetes, at least partly because of its anti-oxidant effect. However, new research reveals some effectiveness against diabetes, but "...should be administered in doses up to 2 grams a day or 100 milligrams per kilogram in animal 'tests.] However, if treatment is for long time periods, possible deleterious pro-oxidant activities of the compound should be considered."
DETAILS: We cannot say that the dose indicated was too high. It may have
been necessary in the treatment of diabetes. However, it surely does
indicate that caution is advisable in long-term use.
