The scientists noted that "Pharmacologic agents 'drugs] currently approved for use in children with type 2 diabetes (metformin and insulin) are less than optimal for some patients." They then evaluated a very low-calorie diet vs. the drugs for type 2 diabetes.
"The ...very low-calorie diet is an effective short-term, and possibly long-term, therapy for pediatric 'child] patients with type 2 diabetes. Blood glucose control and 'BODY MASS INDEX] improve, allowing the discontinuation of 'insulin treatment] and other antidiabetic agents 'drugs.]" Emphases added.
DETAILS: Please note, which the authors added, that this is a strict diet
for children with diabetes. The objectives are most commendable, but road is
not an easy one.
