Shoes for Diabetics?
Dr. Thomas L. Schwenk, in Journal Watch* noted that "Many physicians
recommend various types of therapeutic shoes and orthoses 'also called
inserts, or orthotics] to prevent foot ulceration in patients with
diabetes." Commenting on clinical studies, he concluded,
"....therapeutic shoes and orthoses conferred no protective benefit."
