The Centers for Disease Control says if chlorinated tap water is not available, or where hygiene and sanitation are poor, visitors should drink only canned or bottled carbonated beverages without ice cubes, beer and wine, or beverages such as tea and coffee made with bottled water.
But in 2001, the Swiss-based World Wildlife Fund Int., issued a report on tap water that insisted that bottled is often no healthier or safer to drink than tap water.
"In fact, there are more standards regulating tap water in
Europe and the U.S. than those applied to the bottled water industry," the
