Researchers at Harvard University Medical School have been testing American, Chinese and Korean ginseng as alternatives to Hormone Replacement Therapy, which is helpful to post-menopausal women but increases cancer risk.
They have found that American and Chinese ginseng both exhibited
estrogenic qualities, presumably reducing age-related symptoms like heart
disease effects, osteoporosis and anti-female characteristics.
However, Korean ginseng increased the growth of tumor cells.
