Human Growth Hormone--Another Scam?
Our mailbox has been besieged with million-dollar promotions selling
human growth hormone 'hgh]. There's apparently a lot of money in it for
the sellers. But what about the consumers? We did the research and found
the following:
"Although based on small numbers 'in tests], the risk of 'colon and
rectal] cancer 'with hgh] is of some concern and further investigation
in other groups 'of subjects] is needed."....The Lancet, vol.360, 2002.
(1)
"'There are] concerns about possible toxicity in adults...."....Annals
of Internal Medicine, vol. 137, 2002. (2)
A
report in Journal of Clinical Endocrinology, vol.87, 2002, suggests that
growth hormone reduces insulin sensitivity, thus being negative for
diabetes patients. Theoretically then, it could even increase the risk
of diabetes. (3)
DETAILS: Another report observes that indeed, growth hormone reduces
"adipose tissue mass 'body fat.]" (4) But in the light of other
research, the question is--at what risk? Overall, the medical and
scientific literature reports that too little research has been done to
assure its safety.
