Reduced Disability and Mortality Among Aging Runners?
"Background--Exercise has been shown to improve many health outcomes and well-being of people of all ages. Long-term studies in older adults [have been needed] to confirm disability and survival benefits of exercise."
A team of physicians from Stanford U. School of Med. in California set out to test the hypothesis, following 538 members of a nationwide running club over 50 years of age and separately, 423 healthy non-runners of similar ages.
"Conclusion--Vigorous exercise (running) at middle and older ages is associated with reduced disability in later life and notable survival advantage."

And here's a comment from Dr. Allan S. Brett in Journal Watch, June 19, 2008: "In my experience, some [physicians] continue to prescribe brand-name B-vitamin supplements to...patients...This practice can no longer be justified."
