Question

My wife is 47 years old and is in pretty good shape - recently decided to begin going to the health club on a daily basis. She is really working hard but not losing the weight she wants to - so there are some supplements out there that she is interested in and that I have been researching but I'd like to get your reaction to them: which one if any would you choose?

1. Hydroxycut (by MuscleTech)
2. Metabolic Thyrolean (by ProLab)
3. CLA

Answer

A: Most supplements for losing weight are dubious at best. CLA has been proven in animals, but lately less than satisfactory in humans.

High fiber foods are quite helpful--lentils, soy beans, brown rice for example. Also, apples have been shown to reduce appetite. Would suggest eating any or all of these an hour before regular meals. Another thing is to eat a big breakfast, making that the biggest meal of the day.

We will soon put on the site a "Crazy" super salad. Exceedingly healthful, low in calories and very filling.
