Prebiotics 'As in Chicory] Improved Immune Systems of Stricken Animals
Animals given a carcinogen had suppressed helpful Natural Killer cells, while significant improvement in their immune systems was seen in those given prebiotics.

The study was made by Drs. Watzl, Roller, Caderni, et al, of the Federal Research Center for Nutrition, Karlsruhe, BW 76131 Germany, and the Dept. of Pharmacology, U. of Florence, Italy, and reported at the Annual Meeting of FASEB, an umbrella organization of professional research scientists, April 20-24, 2002.
