Clue to Alzheimer's
Disease Found
"In Alzheimer's disease, age-related cellular changes such as
compromised energy production and increased 'oxygen] radical formation
are worsened by the presence of 'certain chemicals], as
additional....stress factors." So began a report in the journal Biogerontology,
vol. 2, 2001*. Not hot news? Nothing in the popular media appeared about
it, even though carnosine, a publicly available and
non-toxic protein was found to reduce the harmful chemicals. We mentioned carnosine as a
longevity factor in our series The Fountain of Youth.
