Should The Frail Elderly Exercise?
"Objective:
To examine the effects of 17 weeks of physical exercise and
micronutrient 'supplements, such as vitamins] on the 'physical and
mental] well-being of 139 independently living, frail, elderly
subjects...
"Conclusion:
'Physical and mental] well-being in frail elderly people was not responsive
to 17 weeks of intervention with exercise and/or micronutrient enriched
foods."
NOTE: The researchers' observations indicated that
longer-term action
of exercise and nutrition may be beneficial.
