Dementia, mild Parkinson's Disease, multiple system atrophy, and narcolepsy (sleeplessnes) are all associated with REM [rapid eye movement sleep disorder]. This treatment is often done with Clonazepam.

Researchers at the Mayo Clinic tested the use of melatonin as an alternative treatment to the drug for the ailment.

Their conclusions? "Melatonin can be considered as a possible sole or add-on therapy in select patients with [sleep behavior disorder]."
