Urinary Incontinence (poor control) and Hormone Replacement Therapy

"Menopausal hormone therapy...is often prescribed to treat urinary incontinence (UI.)

..."RESULTS: Menopausal hormone therapy increased the incidence of all types of UI at 1 year among those who were incontinent 'at the beginning of the study.]

Conclusions: 'Estrogen] and 'estrogen plus progesterone] increased the risk of UI 'urinary incontinence] among women and worsened the characteristics of UI among symptomatic women after 1 year. 'Estrogen] with or without progestin should not be prescribed for the prevention or relief of UI." Emphases added.
