Selenium
And Male Fertility
It appears that the mineral selenium (Se)
is important if not essential for male fertility. Scientists at Norwich Laboratory and at
the U. of Birmingham, both of U.K.,* have discovered that fertile males have significantly
more selenium in their sperm than infertile men.
DETAILS: Perhaps paradoxically, Se has also
been shown to be preventative of prostate cancer.
NOTE: Se is harmful in large doses, but 200
micorograms a day seems to be safe.

for Experimental Biology, whose members include the Amer.Physiological Soc., Soc. for
Pharmacology, Investigative Pathology, Immunologists, Vascular Biology, Nutrition
Research, etc.
