It appears that the mineral selenium (Se) is important if not essential for male fertility. Scientists at Norwich Laboratory and at the U. of Birmingham, both of U.K., have discovered that fertile males have significantly more selenium in their sperm than infertile men.

DETAILS: Perhaps paradoxically, Se has also been shown to be preventative of prostate cancer.

NOTE: Se is harmful in large doses, but 200 micrograms a day seems to be safe.
