Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a little
understood condition characterized by "chronic diffuse muscular aches,
fatigue and poor sleep," Dr. J. Parziale of the Brown U. School of
Health, RI, observed in Medical Health RI, 'journal,] Sept., l999.
He reported that "sleep cycle regulators 'as melatonin], NSAID'S
'aspirin, ibuprofen] and light aerobic exercise is usually helpful."
DETAILS: One should actually be diagnosed with this condition before
attempting to relieve it. Other reports, notably in Arthritis Care Res.,
April, '99, indicate beneficial results with daily six minute walks (light
aerobic as noted above).
On the negative side, treatment with interferon was recently found to offer
NO improvement by Drs. Russell, Michalek, Kang & Richards of the U. of
Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio.
