Copper
Aids Body's Tumor-Suppression
The old saying that a little is good but a lot is not, applies
particularly to copper.
A vital factor in the
body's defense against cancer is the tumor-suppressor protein p53.
It is present in everybody's tissues whether in normal or mutated form.
Now scientists* have found that a deficiency of copper can increase the risk of cancer
and "...cardiovascular abnormalities and 'nerve degeneration]..."
Meanwhile, an abundance
of copper in our systems (but not an excess) increases our
production of p53, our own valiant tumor-suppressor.
DETAILS: Since there is
copper in foods, it would seem prudent to eat those that
are rich in it,
while avoiding copper supplements. Foods rich in copper (which has
also been found to extend the life of animals,) are nuts and
chocolate.
