Ovarian
Cancer and Green Tea
"To investigate whether tea consumption has an association with ovarian
cancer, a ....study was conducted in China during 1999-2000 'it was
assembled and published in 2002.] The cases were 254 patients with
....confirmed ovarian cancer. Controls 'non-cancer afflicted persons]
numbered 652 and included hospital visitors and individuals recruited from
the community. The ovarian cancer risk declined with increasing
frequency and duration of overall 'green] tea consumption. 'It was 60%
less risk] for those drinking tea daily....and 'about 80% less risk] for
those drinking tea for 30 years.
We concluded
that increasing frequency and duration of tea drinking, especially green
tea, can reduce the risk of ovarian cancer." See footnote a.
