GINGER AND PYLORI

We used to think that ulcers were caused by either aspirin or alcohol--or just nervousness. Medical science has found that the principal villain (not excluding the contribution of those two,) is H. pylori*, an infectious organism.

"Since HP 'pylori] is the primary 'causative] agent associated with dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease and the development of gastric and colon cancer, the anti HP effects of ginger and its constituents were tested...

"CONCLUSION: 'Our results] demonstrate that ginger root extracts containing 'the substance] gingerols inhibit the growth of some P pylori strains 'experimentaly] and this activity may contribute to its 'preventive effects.]"

*Helicobacter Pylori

DETAILS: a. Physicians usually treat pylori with antibiotics. b. Ginger may be obtained in its natural form most anywhere, but especially in Korean vegetable stores. The powdered root is also taken in pill form.
