Help for Bones
A new discovery by medical scientists shows that 'there are] "....
consistent and reproducible beneficial effects of omega-3 'in fish oils]
on bone metabolism and bone/joint diseases."
(emphasis added.)
DETAILS: The way to
increase omega-3 fish oils in the diet is to either eat fish caught in
deep or cold waters, i.e., wild salmon (not farm-fed,) cod, albacore
tuna and mackerel. Or, to take fish oil capsules. One should realize
that these oils have other beneficial qualities including the reduction
of blood pressure and in reducing the risk of heart disease generally.
They also have a tendency to reduce arrhythmia (irregular heart beat.)
Note: The quoted
discovery was made by Drs. Watkins, Lippman and Seifert, Dept. of Food
Science, Purdue U., W. Lafayette, IN 47907. Revealed in Exp. Biol. Med.,
vol. 226, 2001
