Vitamins And
Vision Loss
"A supplement containing antioxidants 'vitamins E & C, beta
carotene,] and zinc (with copper)...." was helpful in preventing
intermediate age-related vision loss related to the condition of macular
degeneration, common in adults of from 55-80 years of age.
The study was
conducted with 3640 patents over a six year period. It did not however,
prevent cataracts. Other studies have found that the risk of
cataracts can be reduced with daily intake of spinach.
From the U.S.
National Eye Institute, Bethesda, MD., reported in The Lancet, vol. 358,
2001.
