The Super Form of Vitamin E in Alternative Medicine
In the commercialized health industry, which includes physicians and vitamin purveyors, vitamin E is promoted (if at all) in an excessive dosage of 400 I.U. One could almost say a "toxic dosage." Aside from the little-noted benefit of promoting the less-profitable 100 I.U., what has been virtually ignored is the superior form of vitamin E for use in alternative medicine.
It is called tocotrienol. Tocotrienols can be found in brown rice and palm oil. Not much profit there, so they are little promoted by the medical establishment. No prescription required, as opposed to a drug. Also, no side effects. But what in alternative medicine, are the advantages of the tocotrienols?
The following are representative medical journal findings from; The Asia Pacific J. of Clinical Medicine, Biochemical Pharmacology, The Journal of Nutrition, The Annals of the N. Y. Academy of Sciences and Biofactors J., respectively.
"Angiogenesis means the formation of new blood vessels...[and] is of fundamental importance in several [disease states] such as tumor growth, rheumatoid arthritis, and diabetic retinopathy."
Angiogenesis, it should be pointed out, the process of growing new blood vessels feeds the tumor cells who are fast-growing and need extra nourishment. By preventing this, we essentially choke off their growth.
Conclusion: "Anti-angiogenic mechanism of [tocotrienols] mediates inhibition of [tumor] growth factor survival, migration and angiogenesis signals."
Editor's Note: Thus tocotrienols act as alternative medicine against cancer.

"Anti-angiogenic therapy mediated by drugs and food components is an established strategy for cancer prevention. Our previous cell-culture studies identified a food-derived anti-angiogenic compound, (tocotrientol, an unsaturated vitamin E), as a potential [alternative medicine] angiogenic inhibitor.
Conclusion: "These [identified in the study] results suggest that [tocotrienol] has potential use as a therapeutic dietary supplement for minimizing tumor angiogenesis."

The study in the Journal of Nutrition was similar to and had the same scientists as above.

"We investigated the anti-angiogenic property and mechanism of Vitamin E compounds, with particular emphasis on tocotrienol, a natural analogue of tocopherol [the better known conventional vitamin E.]...Based on DNA microarray anaysis, anti-angiogenic effect of [tocotrientol] suppressed the intracellular VEGF*signaling...Our findings suggest that [tocotrienol] has potential as a therapeutic dietary supplement for preventing angiogenic disorders."
Editor's Note: The scientists' acceptance by the prestigious N.Y. Academy of Sciences in alternative medicine is impressive.
*Vascular (blood vessel) Endothelial Growth factor.

These medical scientists further discovered that tocotrienol alternative medicine has the potential "to act as anti-telomerase inhibitor via PKC inhibition." Thus it even has the potential to add years to our lives.
