There
have been some worrisome reports of blood clots (venus thromboembolisms)
resulting from the use of the new third generation oral contraceptives.
So, a recent study in Lancet (July 10, l999),of 450,000 Dutch people of
hospital admissions by three medical scientists* there has been eagerly
awaited.
They found that, whereas there was a risk of blood clots requiring
hospitalization of previous oral contraceptive users of 1.7%, new users of
third generation contraceptives revealed a risk of 14.1%. Sobering, to say
the least.
We would suggest discussions with your physician if you are a new user.
